Home¶
The Home tab is your dashboard. It surfaces highlights from your logbook without scrolling through every dive.
Featured media carousel¶
When you have dives with library photos or videos, Home shows a rotating carousel of up to three daily picks from your collection.
- Tap the hero media (anywhere that is not a control) to open that dive on the Media tab with the same item selected. Swipe left/right on the media to move through the carousel.
- Tap the dive link capsule at the bottom of the hero (site name and dive number) to open the dive normally — you’ll feel a light tap haptic. When the dive is linked to a trip, the trip name appears beside the dive number in the same accent color used in Logbook.
- Fish and buddy chips on the hero show tagged species and buddies from that highlight; tap a fish chip to open a species overlay on the carousel (fading feature image, common name, short catalog description, page dots when several species are tagged). While that overlay is open, the Home bell is replaced by × in the same top-left spot — tap × to close. Tap the species name to open the full Field Guide overview. Tap the buddies chip to fan tagged avatars out to the left; the dive link and fish chip hide while avatars are showing — tap the buddies chip again to collapse them and bring the other controls back. Tap an avatar to open that buddy’s detail.

If you have dives but no qualifying library media, Home keeps the same hero layout with a soft gradient behind bouncing photo/video ghost tiles and Add Media to your Dives under the animation (not a link).
If you have no activities logged yet, Home uses the same blue-sheet layout and hero band — gradient background, ghost-tile animation, and a Liquid Glass Log Your First Dive button under the animation that opens Add activity (FIT, UDDF, or manual entry) — with the stats panel below still showing all four tiles with blank entries until you log dives.
Lifetime stats¶
Above the four stat tiles, a centered line shows your dive count and combined bottom time (for example 12 Dives | 4 hr Bottom Time) — the same wording and totals as My Activities in Logbook (numbered dives, import bottom time when available).
Below the carousel, four tiles summarize your logbook:

Empty logbooks still show all four tiles with — values and short hints (for example, “Log dives to track your deepest”) until you have data. Tap a tile to open its top-ten list (Deepest Dives, Longest Activities, Top Sites, Top Species) once you have qualifying dives or sightings. The top three appear on a podium (trophy and medal icons with tiered pedestals); ranks 4–10 continue below in the same compact rows as before. Deepest and longest use Logbook-style dive rows; sites use Explore-style site rows; species show catalog thumbnails when available.
A Top buddies tile always sits below the four stat tiles. With tagged buddies it lists your top three dive partners by shared dive count (tap a buddy to open their detail page). With no tagged buddies yet, it shows three blank placeholder slots so the Home layout stays the same.
Stats and buddies sit in the blue panel between the featured media and the tab bar.
Notifications¶
Tap the bell (top left of Home) to open Notifications — buddy events split into New and Older (newest first in each section):
- New buddy connections — "Alex is now your dive buddy". Tap to open their friend profile.
- Shared activities — "Alex logged a new dive" (with the site name when shared). Tap to open that shared activity.
- Tagged you — when a friend tags you on a shared dive or snorkel, you also see "Alex tagged you in a new dive" (same tap target as the shared activity above).
- Likes on your posts — title like "Blue Hole has new likes" (site name when known, otherwise “your dive/snorkel”); secondary line is who liked it (“Alex liked your dive”). Tap to open that activity in your logbook.
- Comments on your posts — title like "Alex commented on Blue Hole" (site name when known, otherwise “your dive/snorkel”); secondary line is a short comment preview. Tap to open that activity with the comment thread already open.
- Mentions — "Alex mentioned you in a comment" (with a short preview when present). Tap to open that activity with the comment thread already open (your logbook if it is your post, or Buddy Feed if it is a friend’s).
A small blue dot on the bell means there is something new since you last opened the list; opening Notifications clears it. New is unread items from the last two weeks. Older is everything else — including all items older than two weeks (whether or not you have opened them) and recent items you have already seen (those appear faded). If New is empty, it shows You have no new notifications. Pull down on the list to refresh. The list is built from your friend network, likes/comments on your shared activities, and comment mentions, so it shows these events even if a push notification never reached this device.
Profile and navigation¶
- Tap your avatar (top of Home) to open Profile (buddy-style blue sheet with tagged media in the header). The sheet Diver stats page shows the same lifetime tiles as Home (without Top buddies and without the dive-count / bottom-time summary line — your dive count stays next to your name), plus certification tiles (name, agency, date, small card photo on the right) you can tap to open. Edit optional DAN insurance from ⋯ → Edit Profile. Use the menu (☰) for Trips, certifications, gear, buddies, and Settings — Invite a buddy (QR) sits at the bottom of that menu.
- Home participates in the same navigation stack as dive detail, buddy detail, site detail, Field Guide species, and trips — use the back chevron or swipe from the left edge to return.
Tips¶
- Star a photo on a dive’s Media tab to use it as that dive’s logbook thumbnail; Home and Logbook respect featured media.
- Tag marine life on photos so Top species and fish overlays on the carousel stay meaningful.
- Home stats rebuild when your logbook changes; you don’t need to restart the app after import.
